Calculate the readability of your text using Flesch-Kincaid, Gunning Fog, Coleman-Liau, and other scoring algorithms.
The Flesch-Kincaid score estimates how easy text is to read. Scores range from 0-100, with higher scores indicating easier text. A score of 60-70 is considered standard for most audiences.
The Gunning Fog Index estimates the years of formal education needed to understand text on first reading. A score of 12 means roughly a high school senior level.
Use shorter sentences, simpler words, active voice, and avoid jargon. Aim for a Flesch-Kincaid score of 60+ for general audiences.
